CHARITY FOR JEWISH PEOPLE IN BELARUS

For more than 10 years already, the Jewish community of Belarus has been implementing charitable and humanitarian projects aimed at rendering assistance to single and poor Jews, pensioners and single mothers, children and students, whose income is lower than the minimum subsistence wage in the country. The basic burden of working with the needy members of the Jewish community is born by two charitable organizations founded by the Jewish communities of Belarus:

"Hesed Rakhamim"

"Jewish Revival"

Which have over 18,000 Jews in their registries.

All the work is built at the expense of donations, both from abroad and by a small group of local businessmen. A special role in supporting the needy members of the Jewish community of Belarus belongs to our foreign partners: "World Jewish Relief" ("WJR") /England/, American Joint Distribution Committee ("JDC"), the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta /USA/ and AJS /Switzerland/.

These organizations have become our reliable partners, who are assisting the needy Belarusian Jews on the everyday basis to cope with the live adversities, and who are pouring light into their life.

The Programmes implemented by the "Hesed Ràkhamim" and "Revival of Judaism" in relation to the needy members of the community are as follows:
